Llanfyllin is a small montgomeryshire market town, set in glorious welsh countryside just over the border from Shrewsbury. It is the perfect place to base your discovery of Wales, with excellent proximity to both the Snowdonia National Park, and the cost at Aberdyfi or Barmouth. As well as offering interesting attractions near-by such as Lake Vyrnwy, Pistyll Rhayader and Powys Castle.
Getting to Llanfyllin
From Shrewsbury take the A458 Welshpool road and TURN RIGHT just beyond Ford Village along the B4393 (signposted Lake Vyrnwy). Make for Llansantffraid-Ym-Mechain : TURN LEFT just beyond the bridge and TURN RIGHT at the far end of the village. In approximately 4 miles, TURN RIGHT onto the A490 at the T-Junction. The A490 ends in the town.
From the north visitors who are travelling from Oswestry on the A483 to Welshpool need to TURN RIGHT for Llansantffraid at Llynclys cross-roads. Then simply follow signs to Llanfyllin.
From Newtown simply take the A483 to Welshpool and then the A490 to Llanfyllin (you will need to cross the A495)
Once in Llanfyllin follow the main road through to the centre of town; the Cain Valley hotel is on the right, facing the town square.
